Black Geotechnical conducted an assessment over about 4 km of seawall. The assessment included mapping and describing damaged areas, providing a risk level for potential deterioration of existing damage and providing recommendations for remediation.
The assigned risk level is very useful as it helps clients prioritise remediation works.
Various damaged areas were recorded including a high risk level damaged area consisting of a large void behind a seawall that was undermining a large concrete lighting pole, which was starting to lean. The area was immediately cordoned off to the public and the light pole was removed above ground to make the area safe while remediation works are considered.
